Reflection 1

January 11, 2009 janecat

In this semester, I learnt the subject of “English for Language Teachers”. The first topic I learnt was “Language and Communication”. First, I read through the pro-formal. I was quite worried because some of the topics were difficult to understand.

Our lecturer showed us the power point of topic 1 and explained it clearly to us. I could understand very well because there were lots of examples were given in the slideshows.

Our lecturer also gave the whole class task to do. We prepared a role play dialogue by identifying the functions used and preparing a 3-minutes mime (non-verbal communication) of a situation of our choice. This activity was very interesting and I liked it very much.

After our presentation, our lecturer asked what have been acted by other groups and we discussed it together. From here, I learnt to share my ideas and communicate English Language properly with my friends.

In spite of that, we were asked to do the blog. A first, I was quite excited and worried because I did not know how to do the blog. Luckily, our lecturer explained to us clearly.

Another task was to present the topic of ‘How Culture Affect English Language’. My group members were asked by lecturer to do more research in order to support our opinions. In the class, our lecturer showed us the vowel English sounds and asked us to read it together. Even it was difficult to pronounce but I hoped that I could master it one day.
